Diary of an Ipswich fan: 30th July 2009

Info

HTFC logo #4Ipswich have signed former Liverpool youth player Shane O’Connor on a 1-year deal. The 19-year-old Irishman can play in both defence and midfield.

Ipswich Town defender David Wright is to undergo a rib scan on a suspected injury picked up against Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly. Wright is just the latest in a long list of minor knocks picked up by Ipswich players.

Jordan Rhodes seems to be on his way to Huddersfield Town. An original bid was rejected by Ipswich on Monday but a second offer, thought to be in the range of £150,000, for the 19-year old is believed to have been accepted. Rhodes spent much of last season on loan at Brentford; scoring 17 goals and helping them win the League Two title.

Personally, I think Rhodes should be allowed to leave. He will develop more quickly playing full-time competitive football. I hope that there is a buy-back clause involved though. Let him blossom for a few years and then snatch him back as a fully developed and rounded player.
